Telford Granary Apartments

Four Superior Duplex Apartments

Designed as a Granary Store by the famous Scottish engineer Thomas Telford, the building was completed in 1808. It is now a Grade A listed building, occupying a superb location on Burghead Harbour with commanding views over the Moray Firth. The property is surrounded on two sides by the harbour, with the Headland Trust archaeological site behind. There is a vacant plot to one side of the property which is currently used for boat storage. The conversion to four spacious duplex apartments was carried out tastefully and sensitively by specialists in historic buildings, Uneek Properties of Buckie to a design by award wining architect John Macleod, and under the vigilant eyes of Historic Scotland.

Although vehicle access can be obtained along the quayside, there is also a private residents' car park for some 8-10 cars only 30 yards from rear of building. The Harbour Authority has recently obtained planning permission to carry out an extensive beautification program including granite paving of the quayside. Work is expected to commence January 2006. Plan drawings of the proposed harbour re-development can be viewed on request, at the Moray Council Offices in Elgin.
